Beginning their junior year of high school, students in the MIC program take specific college level classes from UCM and Metropolitan Community College alongside their high school classes. This means upon graduation from high school, students will not only have their diplomas, but an associate's degree as well in 3 of the 5 programs.
Best of all, after high school graduation, MIC students are on an accelerated pathway to complete a bachelor's degree from UCM in only two years, allowing them to enter the workforce and start their career sooner.
UCM's Design and Drafting Technology program is the only four-year program of its kind in the state and one of only a few in the country. Our accredited program provides graduates with the skills employers demand for computer aided drafting and design, related technical skills, and the management components of the CADD fields. Our graduates are highly recruited for their strong, hands-on skills gained throughout their degree.

Cybersecurity, also referred to as information security, focuses on protecting computers, networks, programs, and data from unintended or unauthorized access, change, or destruction. Job security is almost guaranteed; the U.S. government and armed forces are in need of intelligence analysts to ensure the safety of our country through cyber-defense initiatives. Recent cyber-attacks on large retailers like Target, large banks like J.P. Morgan Chase and Anthem, one of the largest health insurance providers, highlighted the need for increased cybersecurity education and training of existing workforce and preparing a new generation of cybersecurity workers ready for securing our cyberspace from intruders and attackers. UCM's Cybersecurity program provides an unmatched education to students in the region. With the demand for qualified technical personnel far exceeding the available supply, the opportunities awaiting Cybersecurity graduates are nearly limitless.
The demand for Bioinformatics growing in the fields of medicine and agriculture. Bioinformatics is a result of the growing amount of data related to DNA analysis, precision farming, and advances in technology used in both the medical, agricultural industries, as well as other biological fields. The BS in Bioinformatics is a truly interdisciplinary degree including course work in both the sciences, computer science, and mathematics/statistics. A graduate from UCM’s Bioinformatics BS program will have the skills to help researchers process and interpret data collected from a variety of biological sources.
This degree has two options; Option 1 focuses more on the computing and statistical side and Option 2 on the Biological side of Bioinformatics. Beyond students interested in biology and agriculture in general, Option 2 could be a choice for someone going for a pre-med degree as Bioinformatics is at the heart of cutting edge medicine such as personalized medicine.

Our program has a balanced coverage of both computer science and engineering topics with emphasis on software requirements engineering, software design and architecture, software testing and quality assurance, software project management and secure software engineering. Software engineering students gain knowledge and skill in all aspects of the software development life cycle. They learn to work within, and to continuously improve, a defined software development process, with the aim of producing high-quality software predictably and efficiently.
