The University of Central Missouri Introduction to Modern Programming certificate course prepares students for entry to mid-level positions in the high-demand field of information technology. Participants will learn how to be resourceful and creative in order to help future employers create or enhance their interactive presence on the Internet. Students will select one of three tracks - web design, front-end development or back-end development. Computer programmers median pay is around $82,240, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The demand for these positions is close to 800 over the next five years. Through this program, students earn a certificate of completion and continuing education units which may not be applied to a degree program and are not eligible for federal financial aid.

Today’s interactive programmers and designers perform a variety of duties necessary to keep a business active in the areas of marketing, web-based applications and overall presence online. Job skills included in the course include project management, developing in teams, self-motivated training and technical resources needed to complete projects more efficiently.
