What is Financial Aid?
Financial Aid is any scholarships, grants, loans, or employment used to help you pay for college expenses. Aid can come from various sources such as federal and state agencies, colleges, high schools, foundations, and corporations. Typically, grants and scholarships are not repaid; loans must be repaid. Interest rates and repayment terms vary by program.
Who is Eligible for Financial Aid?
To be eligible for federal financial aid assistance you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Be an undergraduate, graduate or professional student enrolled at least half-time (except for less than half-time Pell Grant) in a degree-seeking program
- Make satisfactory academic progress
- Not be in default on an educational loan
