National SMART (Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent) Grant Program
The Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 created the National SMART Grant program, the purpose of which was to encourage university students to pursue programs of study in high demand throughout the global economy. Unfortunately, however, in accordance with subsequent federal legislation, 2010/2011 was the final award year for the National SMART program.
