CAHSS is committed to engaging students deeply with the academic disciplines and providing an inclusive, creative atmosphere for experiences needed to lead fulfilling, impactful lives, and to achieve career success.
CAHSS strives to be recognized regionally and nationally for empowering our graduates to be leaders by fostering creative inquiry, promoting critical thinking, and engaging them to meet the demands of a globalized society.
In order to achieve the CAHSS mission, we propose the following goals and objectives that leverage outstanding faculty to foster critical reasoning, cultural competence, clarity of communication, and creative expression that are the foundation of innovation and positive change in an increasingly globalized and diverse society:
Goal 1: Foster the development of faculty, students, and staff who contribute to diverse communities through inclusive curriculum and pursuit of scholarly activity, artistic performances, and community building events.
Objective 1.1: Increase retention and graduation rates of CAHSS students. Set % goals collaboratively with each program.

Objective 1.2: Identify and increase student access to high-impact learning experiences, such as participating in research, academic teams, internships, and study abroad, with increased support for diversity-focused initiatives.

Objective 1.3: Increase the number of professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, and incentivize pedagogy development for all instructors.

Objective 1.4: Provide incentives for pursuing and documenting the impact of professional development on courses or co-curricular activities, with focused support for collaborations aligning with recommendations from the President's Commission on Access, Opportunity and Community.

Objective 1.5: Review and revise College policies in order to promote inclusive hiring and recruitment practices so as to foster the diversity of identities among faculty, staff, and students.

Goal 2: Steward, increase, and strategically deploy private and institutional resources in order to expand high-quality student learning opportunities, improve facilities and technology, and support our excellent programs, faculty, and staff.
Objective 2.1: Match appropriate instructional resources to program demand trends and make resources accessible to investigate and develop courses addressing new areas of demand.

Objective 2.2: Upgrade all classrooms to meet the technology needs of faculty classroom teaching strategies, and use private, institutional, and grant funding to create attractive facilities where prospective students can envision themselves thriving and current students can flourish.

Objective 2.3: Partner with alumni, emeriti, community, and other stakeholders to enhance educational access via new / increased endowments and funding for programmatic initiatives that enhance the student experience. Increase overall endowments by 5% by 2026.

GOAL 3: Promote the College's students, programs, and faculty to raise its profile at the local, state, regional, national, and international levels, strengthening ties with the communities that the College serves via outstanding performances, exhibitions, events, and lectures.
Objective 3.1: Advertise CAHSS events, performances, exhibitions, and lectures in Warrensburg and the KC Metro area via event cards, a comprehensive public events calendar, a coordinated social media approach, advertisements in Muleskinner / The Beat and UCM Daily, and partnering with Integrated Marketing for external exposure.

Objective 3.2: Track the number of awards, recognitions, exhibitions, publications, and other achievements of CAHSS faculty, staff, and students. Better advertise these successes via university, Foundation, and social media platforms.

Objective 3.3: Track attendance at CAHSS events through a ticket count or an estimated headcount for non-ticketed events. Increase attendance at least 5% over a three-year period.
