How do I apply for a UCM freshman scholarship?

Your high school transcript and the information you provide on University of Central Missouri's application for admission are reviewed to determine your eligibility for freshman academic scholarships. Students must submit the online scholarship application to be considered for UCM’s Missouri Boys State/Girls State Scholarship.

If I improve my high school cumulative grade-point average or ACT composite score after I am awarded a freshman Red & Black Scholarship, will my scholarship eligibility be reconsidered?

Your scholarship eligibility will be reconsidered if your 7th semester high school cumulative gpa is higher than your 6th semester and/or your ACT composite score improves on or before the February national ACT test. Please note: Scholarship reconsideration is contingent upon receipt of your official 7th semester high school transcript and/or the receipt of your official ACT scores by the Office of Admissions, University of Central Missouri, Ward Edwards 1401, Warrensburg, MO 64093.

Are scholarships awarded only to freshmen?

Students transferring from an accredited 4-year or 2-year, private or public college or university may be considered for a scholarship.

Are there scholarships for students in my major?

Most academic departments award scholarships that have been made available through the generosity of friends of University of Central Missouri. Information regarding departmental scholarships is available from individual academic departments.

Do I have to be a full-time student to receive a UCM scholarship?

Most of the UCM scholarships require full-time enrollment (earning a minimum of twelve undergraduate hours per semester at UCM). However, if otherwise eligible, you may be enrolled in less than twelve hours and receive a proportional amount of the award value under the following conditions:

  • Be enrolled in a University-approved off-campus internship
  • Be a last semester senior completing a degree program

What do I have to do to renew my UCM scholarship?

Specific scholarship renewal criteria are detailed in the scholarship award letter provided to each recipient at the time the scholarship is awarded and is also available at http://www.ucmo.edu/sfs/explore/scholarships/currentgeneralinfo.cfm .

Can my conduct affect my UCM scholarship eligibility?

Scholarships may be reduced or canceled if the recipient fraudulently misrepresents any information or engages in serious misconduct warranting substantial disciplinary penalty.

I lost my renewable UCM scholarship because I didn't earn the required grade-point average. What can I do to earn the scholarship again in the future?

Certain UCM renewable scholarships may be reinstated. To be considered for reinstatement, earn the required grade-point average and earn at least 24 credit hours during the twelve months prior to the semester of reinstatement. How do I request reconsideration for a renewable UCM scholarship I previously received?

A request for reconsideration must be initiated by the student by completing and submitting the brief form at http://www.ucmo.edu/sfs/explore/scholarships/reinstatementguidelines.cfm . Forms are to be submitted prior to the beginning of the fourth week of the semester.

If I lose my renewable UCM scholarship at the end of the Spring semester, can I regain my scholarship for the Fall semester by taking a class(es) during the summer sessions and increasing my grade-point average and/or earned hours to meet the reinstatement criteria?

Yes. However, carefully read the reinstatement guidelines at http://www.ucmo.edu/sfs/explore/scholarships/reinstatementguidelines.cfm and remember only UCM courses affect the UCM cumulative gpa. Courses taken at other institutions do not affect the UCM cumulative gpa.

If I graduate from high school early, will I still be considered for a UCM scholarship?

It is possible to be considered for a UCM scholarship even if you graduate from high school in less than 8 semesters. Click here for more information.
