The ball didn't fall the Mules way Saturday, including this play that almost resulted in an interception in the end zone late in the first half

The Mules dropped a 20-13 decision to the MIAA leading Northwest Missouri State Bearcats on Saturday afternoon at Walton Stadium-Kennedy Field. Trailing 10-3 at halftime, the Mules tied the game at the 9:36 mark of the third quarter, only to see the Bearcats score 10 unanswered points and pick up the win. Quarterback Eric Czerniewski scored the Mules only touchdown, while Mark Starks added a pair of field goals, to account for the UCM points. The Mules defense kept the potent Northwest attack in check most of the day, but a 99-yard touchdown run from LaRon Council was a key play early in the game. Mules Recap »

The Mules, who were 17th in the latest AFCA-II Poll and fifth in the first NCAA-II Super Regional 4 rankings, drop to 3-2 in league play and 5-2 overall with Saturday's setback.
