Jennies give Slifer historic victory

Dave Slifer (pictured above) became the winningest coach in MIAA history on Friday when the Jennies opened play in the Jennies Classic-presented by Comfort Inn and 1450 KOKO/98.5 THE BAR with a 76-59 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville. The victory was number 297 for Slifer as a coach in the MIAA, surpassing former Pittsburg State coach Steve High.
Deidra Dace scored 17 points and Danielle Shows pulled down 10 rebounds to pace the Jennies to their second straight win to open the 2009-2010 season. Jennies Recap »
Action resumes Saturday evening at the UCM Multipurpose Building when the Jennies take on Minnesota-Duluth at 6:30 p.m.

A quick start paved the way for a successful 2009-2010 opener for the Jennies on Sunday afternoon as they roll to a 97-66 win over Graceland at the UCM Multipurpose Building. The Jennies scored 18 of the games first 20 points and were never threatened in the Sunday matinee.
Becca Roberts scored 23 points and hauled in 14 rebounds to lead the Jennies, while Ana Migueres added 21 points and nine boards. Jennies Recap »

2009-2010 schedule set
The Jennies and head coach Dave Slifer have a non-conference trip to Miami, Florida on December 17-19, as well as home games against Texas A&M-Kingsville and Minnesota-Duluth November 20-21. In exhibition action, the Jennies will travel to Columbia, Missouri for a battle with the Big XII’s Missouri Tigers on November 8. MIAA play is highlighted by back-to-back contests against MIAA frontrunners Pittsburg State on the road on December 28, and Washburn on January 2 in the Multipurpose Building. 2009-2010 Schedule »
Keister joins coaching staff
Jennies basketball announced the hiring of Josh Keister as the new assistant coach. He is no stranger to head coach Dave Slifer as he spent eight successful seasons under him at Missouri Western State University from 1996-2004.

Kara Fleming was the lone Jennies representative on the 2008-2009 All-MIAA Squad. Fleming, who was the Freshman of the Year last season, is a second-team All-Conference selection in voting by the league coaches. More Info » / All-MIAA Women's Team Info »
