Leonard helped lead the Jennies to a 36-14 record, and another NCAA post-season tournament appearance. During the season, the lefty tied an NCAA-II record for consecutive scoreless innings (83 2/3).
Jennies have hearts broken at NCAA Regional
Jennies softball saw their 2009 season come to an end in heartbreaking fashion Saturday afternoon, May 9th, after dropping a 3-1 decision to Missouri Western (46-11) in a 10 inning elimination game at the NCAA-II South-Central sub-regional in Durant, Oklahoma.
Kellie Kurka had a solo homerun in the first inning to put the Jennies up 1-0. It was a lead that lasted until the bottom of the seventh as the Griffons tied the game to force extra innings. The game was postponed for 30 minutes entering the ninth inning, due to lightning in the Durant area. The game resumed with a scoreless inning in the ninth to force another extra frame. Missouri Western won the game with a Brittany Douglass two-run homerun off of Megan Leonard in the bottom of the 10th inning.
Leonard struck out 11 and scattered 10 hits over 9.1 innings pitched. Douglas’s home run was only the third home run Leonard gave up on the season. The Griffons Allison Jones also had an impressive pitching performance limiting the Jennies to five hits and striking out six in a 10 inning complete game.
The Jennies, who fell 1-0 to host Southeastern Oklahoma State in a first round game Friday,May 8th, finished the season with a record of 36-14 and were the MIAA regular season champs.
Jennies have 10 on All-MIAA squad, Leonard is Pitcher of the Year

Megan Leonard and Kelli Kurka are first-team selections on the 2009 All-MIAA Softball Squad
Leonard was the only unanimous choice for the 2009 All-MIAA team, and was named the "Pitcher of the Year". Kurka was the first-team selection at catcher.
The Jennies had a total of 10 all-conference selections with Kasey Martin earning a second-team nod, while honorable mention status went to Kristal Holland, Jessie Shelman, Tracey Anderson, Tarese Ely-Myers, Jessica Marble, Nicole Norberg, and Krista Cummings.
