Brian Curless has been head athletic trainer at Central Missouri since 2000. While at UCM, he has been prominent in developing concussion management and heat illness protocol and instrumental in ankle brace and computer injury management system development.
He came to the University after being with SportONE Sports Medicine in Fort Wayne, Ind. While with SportONE, he assisted sports-medicine physicians with patient care, provided athletic-training services for Fort Wayne’s semi-pro football team, as well as event coverage for Tri-State University football and basketball and for high schools in the area.
Curless, who was named Indiana Clinical/Professional Athletic Trainer of the Year in July of 1999, also has worked the Mid-Continent Conference basketball tournament and the NCAA Division I Men’s Volleyball Finals in 1994.
Prior to working for SportONE, Curless was an athletic trainer for the ‘Physical Performance Center’ in Fort Wayne and Terre Haute from 1991-1995. He was also an athletic trainer for 21st Century Rehabilitation in Richmond, Ind., for one year and head athletic trainer for Earlham College in Richmond for five.
A native of Lafayette, Ind., Curless is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association. In addition, he is a licenced athletic trainer by the Missouri Board of Healing Arts. He received his bachelor’s degree in physical education in 1984 from Indiana State University, where he served as a student athletic trainer for four years, and earned his master’s degree in physical education from Ball State University in 1989. His wife’s name is Krista.

In her second year in a full-time capacity with the University of Central Missouri athletic training staff is Jenn Huseman. She was hired in August of 2008, but this is not her first time at UCM. Huseman served as a graduate assistant for Central Missouri from 1997-99 and also had a brief teaching stint there in the fall of 2006.
From 1999-2006, she served as the certified athletic trainer at Sedalia Smith-Cotton High School and worked at Bothwell Regional Health Center, providing out-patient rehabilitative services. Huseman has also spent time as a clinical instructor at both Central Methodist University and Missouri Valley.
Most recently, she lived with her husband, Benjamin, in Korea for a year and a half while he was stationed there with the United States Air Force. While there she served as a housing assistance clerk at Osan Air Base.
She received her bachelor’s degree in 1996 and her master’s in 1998 from Central Missouri. The Belton, Mo. native is certified ATC and LAT.

| Crystal Meeks came to the University of Central Missouri in Januray of 2008 from St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana. She also worked for Jasper County Hospital and Renssalaer Central High School while there.
Prior to her time there, Meeks was at the University of Arkansas where she earned her masters degree in kinesiology. She worked with the football, men’s basketball, track and field, and gymnastics programs while also helping at Bentonville High School. She has also been involved in several post-season events, including the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament and the SAC and NCAA Track and Field Championships.
Meeks earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Ball State (Ind.) University in July of 2004. She also ran cross country and competed for the Cardinals track and field squad from 2000-04. After college, she also served as an EKG technician at Washington Regional hospital in Indiana.
The Demotte, Ind. native is a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer.
