College Of Education Accreditations
CAEP Accredited
The University of Central Missouri is fully accredited at the national level by the Higher Learning Commission. Our teacher education programs have been authorized by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) for teacher licensure. Furthermore, the professional education unit is nationally accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), having been continuously accredited since 1954 (formerly NCATE).

- Early Childhood Birth - 3rd Grade
- Elementary Grades 1-6
- Middle School (ELA, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Business, Engineering and Technology, Speech and Theater)
- Special Education (Early Childhood, Mild/Moderate Cross Categorical, Severe Developmental Disabilities)
- Secondary Education (Agriculture, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Earth Science, Engineering and Technology, English, Family Consumer Science, Mathematics, Modern Languages, Physics, Social Science, Speech and Theater)
- K-12 (Art, Instrumental and Vocal Music, Physical Education)

Individual Programs
Although optional, a number of programs have also chosen to seek out individual recognition where available.
Specialized Professional Associations
In conjunction with CAEP, national recognition via various Specialized Professional Associations (SPA) are possible in certain content areas. Those programs currently nationally recognized include:
- Library Media Specialist, K-12
- Mathematics, 9-12
- Social Studies, 9-12
- Special Education, Cross-Categorical, K-12
- Special Education, Early Childhood
- Special Education, Severe Developmental Disabilities, K-12
Nationally Accredited
Several programs have sought out national accreditation by professional organizations where available. These include:
- Art and Music by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) and
the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), respectively - Counselor Education by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)
- Family and Consumer Science Teacher Education by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS)
