Unique learning opportunities with an Agriculture program certificate
Whether you choose the Plant Science or Animal Science program concentration in UCM’s
Agriculture certificate, you’ll gain hands-on learning opportunities working with
farm animal livestock or various plant species.
- UCM’s university-owned farms: We have 370 acres within five miles of our campus in Warrensburg. For Animal Science
program students, you’ll learn about animal behavior and welfare, diagnose pregnancy
through ultrasound, evaluate livestock, perform diet formulation and many other hands-on
activities. For Plant Science students, learn how to recognize symptoms of various
diseases, measure various phenotypic traits or perform manual-controlled crosses of
various crops.
- Field trips and guest speakers: Hear from leaders in Plant Science or Animal Science programs who visit campus to
discuss the skills needed to teach advanced high school students. Our Agriculture
graduate certificate program courses also get you outside the classroom by taking
field trips to learn more about the Agriculture industry from local companies and
government agencies.
- Personalized classes: Our program classes are small — approximately 10 graduate students are in each course.
This means you get to work with your classmates and faculty members on a personalized
basis and move your career forward in a way that works for you.
