What you will study
Gain a greater understanding of administration and leadership specific to secondary
and post-secondary CTE programs from the University of Central Missouri. Through coursework
for your CTE Administration Leadership graduate certificate, you’ll come to understand:
- The unique role of CTE administration in an educational environment
- The finance and funding of CTE programs and career centers — from determining tuition
rates to filling out paperwork for Perkins Act funding and grants
- How to integrate industry-recognized credentials and national organizations — such
as FFA, DECA and others, as specified by the National Coordinating Council for Career
and Technical Student Organizations — into CTE curricula
Your graduate courses are led by UCM’s full-time and adjunct CTE faculty, who not
only have doctoral degrees but have also worked as CTE program administrators. They’ll
tailor the curriculum to meet your exact goals and use their expertise and real-world
experience to answer your questions and help chart your path.
Excellence in CTE Administration
- With Missouri's only CTE administration certification program, UCM also offers the
state's most extensive career and technical education program for unparalleled resources
and support.
Unique learning opportunities in CTE administration leadership
Get hands-on experience that enhances your resume — and expands your network — while
you complete UCM’s CTE Administration Leadership graduate certificate:
- Apply your learning: Put theory to practice as part of the curriculum for your graduate certificate. You’ll
engage in projects that build real-world experience specific to CTE administration.
For example, you’ll create a budget for a career center and design a new — or improve
an existing — CTE program.
- Participate in an internship: If you’re also completing UCM’s master’s degree in Career and Technology Education, you may have some overlap in coursework. In that case, you can substitute a certificate
class for an internship, which is necessary to be certified as a Missouri CTE administrator.
- Join an industry association: Participate in the Missouri Association for Career and Technical Education (MoACTE)
or the Missouri Council of Career and Technical Administrators (MCCTA) to connect
with CTE professionals across the state and to learn at conferences and events.
