The University of Central Missouri's Audio Engineering Technician certificate program teaches you the skills needed to become an audio engineering technician. This blended learning course includes classes held in a state-of-the-art studio. Students will be prepared to apply their technical knowledge and skills to the production of sound recordings as finished products or as components of film/video, broadcast, live performances or mixed-media productions. In this blended course, you will spend 75 percent of your time in an instructor-led classroom and 25 percent online learning. Also included will be job shadowing with award-winning producer Jo Blaq. Average salary for this job is $42,650. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that job growth outlook over the next 10 years will be approximately 8 percent. Through this program, students earn a certificate of completion and continuing education units which may not be applied to a degree program and are not eligible for federal financial aid.

Our comprehensive program prepares graduates for entry-level positions, including theory and working knowledge, for jobs such as recording engineer, audio engineer, sound engineer, mixer, audio operator, sound technician, broadcast engineer, broadcast technician and sound editor. You will have opportunities to learn through text reading, online sections, traditional classroom lectures, hands-on lab activities and job shadowing.
