The University of Central Missouri Customer Service Professional Development certificate program will prepare you for entry-level customer service positions in a variety of industries. Students will learn how to provide excellent service and how to resolve issues via telephone conversations or online. The demand for customer service professionals is projected at 462 over the next five years. Median pay is $32,890, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Through this program, students earn an industry-recognized certificate and continuing education units which may not be applied to a degree program and are not eligible for federal financial aid.

The customer service professional development program provides students with a foundation in computer skills used in customer service careers. Students will also develop the skills and techniques needed to meet customer needs in a variety of work environments. The course will include how to provide exceptional customer service, how to deal with dissatisfied customers and best practices for e-mail and telephone communications. Students completing the course are well-prepared to take the National Professional Certification in Customer Service industry exam. Examples of jobs in this area include client services rep, counter clerk, crew member, customer service rep, sales clerk, account manager and call center rep.
