Dr. Shantia Kerr Sims serves as a Professor of the Educational Technology program at the University of Central Missouri (UCM). Her experience spans both K-12 and higher education settings. At UCM, Dr. Kerr Sims has served in many roles from chair of various committees and faculty senator to Coordinator of the Educational Technology program. Her research areas include understanding how technology is used to enhance teaching and learning in a variety of educational settings, teacher technology professional development, and equity in education. Dr. Kerr Sims teaches courses in educational technology leadership, assessment in online learning and other areas related to teaching and learning with technology. In her spare time, Dr. Kerr Sims enjoys supporting various civic organizations, exploring new technologies, reading, traveling and spending time with family. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Kerr Sims earned her BSE in Middle Grades Education from Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia and MSE in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Instructional Systems Technology and PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Learning Technologies from the University of Minnesota.
