Bernard (Bernie) Phillips devoted 13 years of his life to helping Central manage its financial resources. He has retired as assistant controller/treasurer.
A resident of Leawood, Kan., Phillips began his daily commute to Warrensburg in 1981 as business manager for the auxiliary enterprises and sponsored programs accounting. He came to the university after years of management experience in the business arena. He was a systems analyst for Puritan Equipment, Lenexa, Kan.; manager of administrative services for Medelco Inc., Skokie, Ill.; and manager of computer services for Cashco, Inc., Ellsworth, Kan.
His college education took place at Roosevelt University in Chicago, Ill., where he earned a bachelor of arts degree, and the University of Chicago, where he completed a master of business administration degree.
He has been involved in professional organizations such as the Association for Systems Management, and has participated in such civic groups as Rotary International.
Phillips and his wife Ulla have two children, Tracy and Clifton.
