UCM Provost Excellence Scholarship
Recognizing Achievement in Academics, Leadership and Community Involvement
The Provost Excellence Scholarship is the University of Central Missouri’s top financial award, offering recipients up to $16,000 to support their educational journeys at UCM. Renewable each year for four years, this scholarship rewards a high-achieving student who demonstrates excellence in all aspects of their life.

All ambitious and talented students are encouraged to apply. Each year the Provost Excellence Scholarship is awarded to a well-rounded individual who is academically deserving and deeply involved in extracurricular activities in their school or community. While only one Provost Excellence Scholar is named at the yearly scholarship event, all finalists qualify for impressive scholarship aid. All applicants also receive additional scholarship consideration, as 94% of UCM undergraduates receive financial aid.
Here’s how to apply.
- You must have a high school or college GPA of 3.85 or higher.
- Submit your UCM application and Provost Excellence Scholarship application by Nov. 1, 2024.
- You must attend on-campus interviews on Nov. 15 and 16, 2024.
- Fill out the application linked at the bottom of this page and complete a 2-3 minute video submission answering this prompt: “What life experience has made you who you are today, and what impact would a UCM degree have on your life?”
Submit your application by Nov. 1 and be ready to visit campus on Nov. 15 and 16, 2024.
Five finalists will be selected for a unique campus experience and personal interviews. While on campus, your days may look like this:
Day One
- You’ll arrive at 9 a.m. and start your morning in academic meetings with your faculty and college dean.
- Lunch is on us at one of our campus restaurants.
- After lunch, you’ll shadow a UCM class.
- After a campus tour, you’ll meet with UCM staff and faculty for your formal interview.
- Next up – meet the press! You'll answer some fun questions in a quick interview with the UCM News Bureau.
- You’ll be the guest of honor at a formal dinner hosted by UCM President Roger Best and First Lady Robin Best. UCM alumni, faculty and student ambassadors will also be around the table to share their experiences and answer your questions.
Day Two
- After your big day, sleep in! You’ll meet with the admissions team for lunch on campus.
- It’s game time! You’re invited to a 1:1 meet-and-greet with the UCM live Mule Team and receive sideline passes for the game.
- Then, it’s time to tailgate before heading to your seat in the President’s suite.
- The wait is over. The Provost Excellence Scholarship award winner will be announced at the game!
