Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
VITA
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.Free Tax Preparation Help
The Accountancy Program offers VITA on campus each tax season. Students attend training sessions to become certified and then volunteer to prepare both resident and non-resident income tax returns for UCM students, staff and the general public. The hands-on experience gained is invaluable, as is the service provided to our many taxpayer participants.
