The University of Central Missouri (UCM) and the Warrensburg R-VI School District
have formalized a partnership to share athletic facilities through a memorandum of
understanding.
Under the agreement, UCM will provide the school district with free use of the Jerry
M. Hughes Athletics Center for high school graduations and occasional access to other
athletic venues for practices or competitions. In return, the school district will
offer UCM similar access to its own athletic facilities, with the understanding that
no rental or entrance charges will be levied by either party.
At a signing at the Warrensburg Activities Complex attended by leadership of both
institutions, UCM President Roger Best and Warrensburg R-VI Superintendent Steve Ritter
praised the partnership, highlighting how it strengthens collaboration between the
school district and the university. The Warrensburg Board of Education unanimously
approved the agreement, marking a significant step forward in enhancing community
cooperation and resource sharing.
“We've identified some areas where we can help each other out in situations by sharing
facilities on an as-needed basis,” Ritter said.
“We are better when we were able to work together, and our community is better as
a result as well,” President Best said.
