The community is invited to celebrate with the University of Central Missouri (UCM)
as it hosts the annual family-friendly Get the Red Out street fair from 10 a.m. to
12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7.
In a longstanding tradition for the UCM and Warrensburg communities, thousands of
people are expected to attend Get the Red Out as they show their UCM spirit ahead
of the Mules football team’s first home game of the season. The free event will take
place on Holden Street between South and Clark streets on the west side of campus.
Festivities include games for kids, such as hoop shooting with the Mules and Jennies
basketball teams and dozens of local organizations and vendors, including food trucks.
Get the Red Out also features a performance by the UCM Drumline and special appearances
by Mo the Mule, the university’s live mule mascot and UCM’s Mulekickers and cheerleaders.
UCM Athletics will also be in attendance to kick off the brand new Mule Fan Zone,
which will feature live music, inflatables for kids, community booths and more in
the grassy area near the stadium on the west side of Holden Street. Before each home
game during the rest of the Mules Football season, the Mule Fan Zone will be located
in the grassy area near Warren Street to the west of the parking lot that features
UCM's bronze mule statue. The event is free and open to all fans.
After attending Get the Red Out, everyone is encouraged to cheer on the Mules as they
take on the Northeastern State Riverhawks at 1 p.m. at Audrey J. Walton Stadium. Tickets
are available at ucmathletics.com/tickets.
The street fair is open to area businesses, nonprofit organizations, student organizations
and others. The event is a great way to get information into the hands of students,
faculty, staff and community members. While many have already signed up to participate,
there is still an opportunity for more vendors to join Get the Red Out. Vendor registration
is open, and the booth registration form can be found at ucmo.edu/gtro.
Anyone with questions prior to the day of the event should please contact the UCM
Office of Integrated Marketing and Communications at 660-543-4640 or email jtart@ucmo.edu.
