August 29, 2024Realizing that efforts to maintain a safe campus extends beyond interior buildings and grounds, the University of Central Missouri has added a new officer whose role also includes educating motorists on how they can contribute to making UCM and their community safe. Former Oak Grove resident Emma Rogers has been named the Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Safety Officer, a position funded by a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation.
March 11, 2024As the University of Central Missouri moves closer to finishing its campus-wide electronic access project, it is gradually incorporating the Mobile Mule Card into this program to provide keyless entry into university buildings.
February 15, 2024Making the safety of students, employees and campus visitors a priority, the University of Central Missouri has established multiple initiatives to meet this goal with the help of $326,000 in grant funding since August 2022. The grant-funded projects initiated by the UCM Department of Public Safety are made possible by campus, local, state and federal sources, and include traffic safety education and equipment, impaired and hazardous driving enforcement, anti-terrorism equipment, protective equipment for police officers, and interoperable communications equipment.

Dan Othic, a longtime officer with the University of Central Missouri’s Department of Public Safety. He was recently honored as recipient of the Clarence M. Kelley Meritorious Service Award.
October 25, 2023With plans to implement new technology to create more efficient, cost-effective parking lot patrol and management, the University of Central Missouri Department of Public Safety has obtained a new vehicle well equipped to assist in this effort. A step toward the future, Public Safety this summer purchased a hybrid 2023 Ford Maverick pickup with digital license plate reading capabilities that will be ready for deployment beginning Sept. 1.
