April 06, 2023Consistent with the University of Central Missouri’s motto, “Education for Service,” the UCM Alumni Foundation has announced the first MuleNation Weeks of Service event. The initiative brings students, alumni and their families together to engage in projects that will benefit communities in Missouri and five other states. This event begins on April 10 and concludes on April 22, which is Earth Day. It takes place during National Volunteer Week, April 16-22.

April 05, 2023Following a review process coordinated by the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, 30 University of Central Missouri faculty members were awarded promotions and/or tenure for the 2023-2024 academic year. The Board of Governors was presented a list of these individuals when it met March 23.
April 04, 2023University of Central Missouri Theatre and Dance and UCM Music present “Little Women: The Musical” at the Highlander Theatre at 7:30 p.m. April 6, 7 and 8, and at 2 p.m. April 8 and 9. The April 9 matinee is Pay-What-You-Can (minimum $1). The show is family-friendly.

April 03, 2023From his early years teaching at the University of Central Missouri’s former lab school to serving as the university’s first Director of International Programs, Professor Emeritus Terry Rodenberg has always had a reputation as a great storyteller. In retirement, he is putting that ability to use sharing with others two self-published booklets highlighting his own favorite memories as well as those of past colleagues and alumni. His first work, “A Personal Look About Life at the Lab School” and his second publication, “Stories of the International Office,” are now available on a limited basis.
March 31, 2023The University of Central Missouri is partnering with Black Rocket online learning company to offer both in-person and online STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) summer camps for children from age 6 to 14. The in-person courses are new this year with three-hours classes offered weekly via either morning or afternoon sessions June 26 through July 28 at the Missouri Innovation Campus in Lee’s Summit.
March 30, 2023While finding a place to display 19 new trophies may pose a small problem for an award-winning program, it is a welcome challenge for the University of Central Missouri’s Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology. This shiny new hardware comes after a team of students and faculty members captured UCM’s 20th consecutive Sweepstakes Award at the American Criminal Justice Association-Lambda Alpha Epsilon (ACJA-LAE) National Conference Competition.

March 29, 2023Having grown up in a family that placed a high value on earning a college degree, Dr. Mary Long understands the benefits of a higher education, but also knows the pathway toward earning a degree often comes for many students with challenges, both academically and financially. When the former member of the University of Central Missouri Board of Governors was presented the James C. Kirkpatrick Excellence in Governance Award on March 23 she reminded students to never give up in pursuit of their education goals.

Action on these matters took place when the board met in its March 23 plenary session on campus.
