On Monday, Feb. 6 KMOS-TV, the University of Central Missouri’s public television station, will move the beginning of its daytime ‘general audience’ programming from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This will allow PBS Kids programming to run concurrently from 5 a.m. through 1 p.m., creating a better viewing experience for young viewers. In addition, KMOS will premiere a new series for children ages 3-6 designed to introduce kids to thinking concepts meant to help in solving everyday problems, and to express themselves clearly. “Work It Out Wombats!” will air weekdays at 9:30 a.m. beginning Feb. 6.

January 18, 2023The University of Central Missouri’s dining services provider, Sodexo, is introducing UCM to its partner and national nonprofit, Swipe Out Hunger. In collaboration with the university’s Campus Cupboard, they have implemented a plan to assist UCM students battling food insecurity. Students can now apply to receive 10 free meal swipes to use at university dining halls.

January 12, 2023UCM Magazine, a biannual publication with a print distribution to 25,000 University of Central Missouri alumni and supporters, is being recognized with a 2022 Best of District award by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). A representative of the UCM Alumni Foundation will accept the award during the CASE District VI Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado, Feb. 5–7.

This is the second consecutive year UCM’s program has received this designation, making it the only such program offered at a public Missouri institution to be recognized, and one of only 50 programs nationwide to earn a spot on the list.

The governing board also approved a change in the Educational Development Program that benefits employee families seeking a UCM education.

Spencer Vossler, a third generation family member to attend the university, this fall finished in the top 10 for his entry in the Agriscience Fair that took place as part of the 95th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Nearly two dozen postsecondary institutions were selected to provide high-demand career training for new and underrepresented populations and to address the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on agriculture and supply chains.
