WARRENSBURG, MO – The Performing Arts Series at the University of Central Missouri
and the Warrensburg Ministerial Association will host the Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr. Community Praise and Worship Service at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, in the Alumni
Memorial Chapel on the UCM campus.
The event is part of UCM’s 2016 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, combining the traditional ecumenical worship service and the gospel concert that
have long been a part of the combined campus and community event.
The Rev. Jim Tomlonson of the Warrensburg Church of the Brethren will serve as master
of ceremonies, with the Rev. Morris Collins of the Jesus Saves Pentecostal Church
of God as the featured speaker. Music will be provided by the Jesus Saves Pentecostal
Church of God Sanctuary Choir and UCM’s ABC Gospel Choir.
Special music will be presented by soloists Shirley Briscoe of Shiloh Missionary Baptist
Church and Corey Watson of the Harvest Fellowship Church.
The Warrensburg Ministerial Association will also present its MLK Scholarship. Established
in 2011 by the Warrensburg Ministerial Association, the scholarship is presented to
a graduating Warrensburg High School senior.
The event is free and the public is invited to attend.
