WARRENSBURG, MO – Cameron Duthoy, a sophomore aviation major from Warrensburg, recently
was named Student Employee of the Year at the University of Central Missouri. Duthoy
received the award during a reception April 13 in celebration of National Student
Employment Week.
Duthoy was one of 23 student employees nominated for the award. He is employed as
a flight operation line technician at Max B. Swisher Skyhaven Airport, the university-owned
airport that also serves Warrensburg and the Johnson County, Missouri area. He has
been employed by the university since January 2015.
In his position, Duthoy provides ground support for UCM flight operations, including
fueling up to 23 different aircraft in the UCM fleet and operating an 8,000-gallon
fuel truck. He also manages the movement of aircraft, provides customer support for
transient aircraft using the airport, and acts as an overall safety facilitator for
the airport. He also serves as a firefighter for the Johnson County Fire Protection
District.
As president of the Aviation Student Leadership group at UCM, Duthoy has organized
the activities of the group at the annual Get the Red Out street fair and other events.
He was instrumental in leading the group’s opportunities for interaction with young
people interested in aviation during many visits to middle and high schools to promote
aviation as a profession. He also served as a student escort and spokesperson while
coordinating student ambassadors during the aviation program’s recent accreditation
visit.
“Cameron stands out as the best student worker who has served our team during my three
years at UCM,” said Tony Monetti, assistant dean of aviation and executive director
of the Max B. Swisher Skyhaven Airport, in his nomination of Duthoy for the award.
“He is an amazing individual who cares for others over himself with integrity and
humility. Young students look up to him as a role model, and he leaves a legacy of
what it means to be a Flying Mule.”
Duthoy is a 2011 graduate of Warrensburg High School. He is the son of Suzanne Stakke
of Ft. Myers, Fla., and John Duthoy of Marshall, Minn.
