WARRENSBURG, MO - The UCM Dance Club will present Dancing with the Professors at 7:30
p.m.Sunday, May 1, in the James L. Highlander Theatre.
The club's annual fundraiser, Dancing with the Professors is an evening of various
ballroom and popular dance styles performed by UCM students and faculty. The event
is choreographed by UCM students, danced by some of UCM’s bravest faculty, and judged
by selected UCM faculty and staff, and audience members.
This year’s Dancing with the Professors showcases an ensemble of seven couples of
student-faculty dancers. The competing couples are:
- Gregory Streich, professor of political science and chair of the Department of Government,
International Studies, and Languages, dancing with Nellie Maple, theatre performance
major.
- Jennifer Carson, associate professor of criminal justice and coordinator of undergraduate
research, dancing with Omari Collins, musical heatre major.
- Dane Miller, professor emeritus of criminal justice, dancing with Alexandria Pettey,
speech and theatre education major.
- Janet Bonsall, professor emerita of photography, dancing with Zach Craft, theatre
performance major.
- Michael Makara, professor of political science, dancing with Claryssa Beal, photography
major.
- So Youn Lim, instructor of sports management in the Department of Nutrition and Kinesiology,
dancing with Adam Segura, speech and theatre education major.
- Victoria Depew, assistant professor of theatre-costume design, dancing with Isamo
Manuel, Jr, musical theatre major.
The evening will provide entertainment on the dance floor with original works including
styles of swing, disco, contemporary, jazz, ballet, waltz, salsa, musical theatre
dance, and more!
The judging panel includes judges Ashley Miller, associate professor of dance; UCM
President Chuck Ambrose, and Chuck Clemons, a member of the UCM Mules football coaching
staff.
Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. The proceeds from the event will
benefit UCM Dance Club and help send students to the American College Dance Association.
