Departments of Theatre and Dance, Music Present 'The Secret Garden'

WARRENSBURG, MO - The University of Central Missouri’s Department of Theatre and Dance, in collaboration with the Department of Music, will present the musical The Secret Garden by Marsha Norman and Lucy Simon.

Performances are planned for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 5-8 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9 in the Highlander Theatre.  The Oct. 6 performance will feature American Sign Language interpreters.  Admission is $15 for the general public, $12 for UCM faculty, staff and senior citizens, and $7 for students. Children under the age of five will not be admitted.

The box office, located in Wood 128, will open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. Tickets can be purchased online at ucmo.edu/theatre/calendar.

The Secret Garden is a musical adaptation of the classic family novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. This magical story about the healing power of love journeys into a hidden world where lost loves are found and lost lives are saved.

Richard Herman is director of the production. Kristee Haney is musical director, and  Rob Lawrence is musical conductor, with choreography by Ashley Miller.

The cast of The Secret Garden includes Arthur Clifford as Archibald Craven; Lexi Poindexter as Lily Craven; Bryson Kenworthy as Dr. Neville Craven; Zach Hutchins as Albert Lennox; Jessica Arnold as Rose Lennox; Leah Eggiman as Mary Lennox; Jonathan Hinderks as Fakir; Madita Newmeier as Ayah; Jessica Baxter as Martha; Chris Scott as Ben; Grant Lesher as Dickon; Adriana Luffman as Mrs. Medlock; Allyson Laytham as Mrs. Winthrop; Ben Renfrow as Colin Craven; Jordan Malone as Major Holmes; Emily Bridges as Claire Holmes; Nick Schneider as Lieutenant Shaw; Emily Coffin as Alice Shaw; Matthew Briggs as Lieutenant Wright; Danielle Sachse as Shelley Wright; Melanie Grantham as Jane the House Keeper. The dancers include Zach Kujath, Tristan Jordan, Christina Foster, and Sarah Bronson.
