WARRENSBURG, MO – The University of Central Missouri invites the community to join
in the celebration of “The Power of Red” during the 2016 Homecoming celebration Oct.
21-22 as friends and alumni join UCM students and staff in a variety of activities.
The Homecoming Pep Rally is planned for 4-5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, in the Multipurpose
Building. Student organizations will have an opportunity to show their UCM pride during
a variety of competitions, and candidates for Homecoming King and Queen will be introduced.
Later that evening UCM Alumni Foundation will recognize the recipients of the Distinguished
Alumni Award at the annual Distinguished Alumni Reception and Dinner at 5:30 p.m.
in the Elliott Student Union ballroom.
Saturday’s festivities kick off with the All Alumni Breakfast at 8 a.m. in the Smiser
Alumni Center, followed by the annual Homecoming parade at 9 a.m. The parade route,
unchanged from previous years, will leave from the Multipurpose Building parking lot,
proceeding south on Washington Street, east on Houx Street and north on Holden Street
through campus and downtown Warrensburg. The parade route turns east onto Gay Street
to College Avenue. At College Avenue, the route heads south until the parade ends
at South Street. Band and parade judges will be positioned along the route.
Following the parade, the UCM Alumni Foundation will host an all-alumni tailgate at
the Achauer House, 314 S. Holden.
The annual Homecoming football game starts at 1:30 p.m. in the Audrey J. Walton Stadium
as the UCM Mules take on Washburn University. Halftime activities include the introduction
of the 2016 Distinguished Alumni, the crowning of the 2016 Homecoming royalty and
performances by the Marching Mules.
