WARRENSBURG, MO – U.S. Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler will host the 2016 Missouri Business
Conference Wednesday, Oct. 26, at the University of Central Missouri.
The conference is designed to bring successful business owners together with entrepreneurs
and student entrepreneurs to expand knowledge on the how to successfully start and
expand a business through collaboration and brainstorming.
Registration for the event begins at 8 a.m. in the Elliott Union ballroom. Hartzler
will open the conference at 9 a.m. with remarks, following the Hands-On Learning Session
from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
The Hands-on Learning Session will focus on the development of effective sales strategies,
with participants working side by side with seasoned entrepreneurs to develop a high-impact
sales plan to help keep a business on track and improve performance. The session will
provide a structured approach that leverages innovative tools and techniques, including
social media, public relations and mobile web apps.
During lunch at noon, participants will be introduced to One Million Cups, an ongoing
educational networking opportunity offered through a partnership with the Kauffman
Foundation, Pettis County Economic Development, and State Fair Community College’s
Small Business and Technology Development Center. Small business owners will discuss
challenges faced during startup, and attendees will discuss potential growth strategies
and provide feedback to featured entrepreneurs.
Following lunch, The Business Internship Fair will allow participants to meet and
network with highly qualified, talented students seeking internship opportunities,
evaluate qualifications and skill of potential employees and recruit high-quality
students. The conference is free and open to the public, and preregistration is requested.
