Homecoming 2016 Competition Results Announced

WARRENSBURG, MO – The University of Central Missouri’s 2016 Homecoming King and Queen were crowned during the Saturday, Oct. 22 celebration, “The Power of Red.”

Ashley Garrard, a senior economics major, and Nicholas Cookinham, a junior economics and finance major, were crowned Homecoming King and Queen during the Homecoming football game at Audrey J. Walton Stadium.

UCM students who participated in the annual Homecoming Day of Service, one of UCM’s Homecoming traditions, provided more than 810 hours of community service for area agencies. Donors provided 823 units of blood during the Homecoming blood drive, and more than 7,000 canned food items were collected and donated to the Warrensburg Food Center, Survival Adult Abuse Center and the UCM Campus Cupboard during the Donation Creation competition.

UCM also announced the results of the Homecoming competitions. Taking first place in the campus floats category in the Homecoming parade was the Alpha Sigma Alpha/Sigma Phi Epsilon entry, with Sigma Sigma Sigma/Alpha Kappa Lambda receiving second, Alpha Phi/Sigma Tau Gamma, third; and Delta Chi/Sigma Kappa, fourth.

In the community float category, Luther and Loxy in the Pines took first place; Ag Club claimed second place; Early Childhood Opportunity Center, third; and Center Stage Academy placed fourth.

First place in the competitive spirit window competition went to Sigma Kappa/Delta Chi; second went to Phi Sigma Kappa and LIV; third to Alpha Phi and Sigma Tau Gamma; and fourth to Alpha Sigma Alpha and Sigma Phi Epsilon.

Gamma Phi Beta/Sigma Pi claimed first placed in the Donation Creation competition. Delta Zeta/Alpha Tau Omega received second; Alpha Kappa Lambda/Sigma Sigma Sigma, third; and Alpha Sigma Alpha/Sigma Phi Epsilon, fourth.

Alpha Sigma Alpha/Sigma Phi Epsilon placed first in the competitive division of the bowling tournament, with Sigma Kappa/Delta Chi receiving second; Alpha Eta Rho, third, and Alpha Tau Omega/Delta Zeta, fourth.

Alpha Sigma Alpha/Sigma Phi Epsilon took first place in the Blood Drive competition, with Sigma Sigma Sigma/Alpha Kappa Lambda placing second; Gamma Phi Beta/Sigma Pi, third; and Sigma Kappa/Delta Chi, fourth.

In the marching band competition, Warrensburg Middle School placed first in the Middle School category.

In the 1A category, Leeton High School placed first; Meadville High School placed second, and Northwest High School placed third.

In the 2A category, Crest Ridge High School placed first; Smithton High School, second; and Archie High School, third.

In the 3A category, Knob Noster School placed first; Clinton High School, second; and Holden R-3 High School, third.

In 4A competition, Warrensburg High School placed claimed first place, and Eldon High School placed second .
