WARRENSBURG, MO – The University of Central Missouri will be the hub of activity Friday
and Saturday, Dec. 9-10, as 2016 Fall Commencement exercises get underway in the Multipurpose
Building. Thousands of visitors will converge on Warrensburg and UCM for this weekend
which honors nearly 1,800 students who have fulfilled requirements for undergraduate
and graduate degrees.
UCM President Charles Ambrose will present the commencement remarks in each of three
ceremonies. Commencement weekend begins at 6 p.m. Friday with the graduate ceremony,
which with 1,170 individuals who have qualified for degrees, will be the largest event
of the weekend. Some 604 undergraduates have qualified to participate in ceremonies
planned for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday. Degree candidates within the Adrian and
Margaret Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies and the College of Arts,
Humanities, and Social Sciences will be recognized in the morning ceremony. Degrees
will be conferred upon graduates of the College of Health, Science and Technology
and the College of Education in the afternoon.
Other commencement activities include the College of Health, Science and Technology’s
Nursing Recognition Ceremony beginning at 11 a.m. in Hendricks Hall. The Honors College
and Department of Nursing will conduct a joint reception from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
in Elliott Student Union 236-240. The final event of the day will be the Army ROTC
Commissioning Ceremony conducted by the Department of Military Science and Leadership
at 4:30 p.m. in the Alumni Chapel.

by the UCM Media Network begins about 30 minutes before the start of each event.
