WARRENSBURG, MO – The University of Central Missouri Department of Nursing recently
was notified by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education of the continued accreditation
of the Department of Nursing undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
UCM’s nursing programs received the re-accreditation for a 10-year period ending June
30, 2027.
A written self-study that addressed how the UCM program addressed accreditation standards
was submitted to CCNE six week prior to a site visit by the accreditation team. The
site visit team spent two and one-half days meeting with the department and university
staff, including the university president, provost, dean, department level faculty,
nursing students, and representatives of the clinical agencies where students complete
clinical practicums.
The site visit also included a review of facilities and support services on the Warrensburg
and UCM-Lee’s Summit campuses and several of the clinical agencies.
“The CCNE, a national autonomous accrediting agency, contributes to the improvement
of the public's health by ensuring the quality and integrity of baccalaureate and
graduate programs in nursing,” said Julie Clawson, chair of the UCM Department of
Nursing. “By going through this process with the university, the College of Health,
Science and Technology, and our clinical support partners, UCM’s nursing faculty,
staff and students demonstrate a professional commitment to continuous growth and
improvement for student learning that transforms into quality nursing care needed
for the public we serve.”
The UCM Department of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing that
includes a pre-licensure option for students who have not received a nursing degree
and an online RN-BS option for those who have a two-year nursing degree, as well as
an online Master of Science Degree in Nursing with options for nurse educators and
family nurse practitioners.
