WARRENSBURG, MO – Deborah Curtis, provost and chief learning officer at the University
of Central Missouri, and the UCM Department of Music, will open the 2017-2018 performance
season as they host “Fanfare: The Provost’s Faculty Showcase” at 7 p.m. Wednesday,
Aug. 23 in Hart Recital Hall.
The annual event features the talents of UCM’s music faculty, performing a variety
of selections. Featured performers will include Eric Honour and Jeff Kaiser performing
on saxophone, trumpet and electronics, and Alastair Wright on soprano saxophone, accompanied
on piano by Mia Hynes.
Elisabeth Stimpert will perform on bass clarinet, and Albert Kim will perform on piano,
followed by Alex Smith with a vocal and pandeiro performance. Hynes will accompany
a performance by Roger Oyster on trombone, followed by a performance by the quartet
of James Isaac on tenor sax, David Aaberg on trumpet and piano, John Check on bass
and Mike Sekelsky on drums.
Mezzo soprano Kristee Haney will be accompanied by Sheri Mattson on oboe and Kim on
piano, followed by the brass ensemble of Alan Wenger and David Aaberg on trumpet,
James Naigus on horn, Oyster on trombone and Steven Steward on tuba.
The public is invited to attend. The event is free, but tickets are required to assure
adequate seating. Free tickets may be obtained from the Department of Music, Utt 109;
