WARRENSBURG, MO – The University of Central Missouri’s 2017 Homecoming King and Queen
were crowned during the Saturday, Oct. 14 celebration, “Show Me UCM.”
Katharine Mudd, a senior education major from Washington, Mo., sponsored by Sigma
Kappa, and Orie Hemme, a senior business management major from Columbia sponsored
by Sigma Pi, were crowned Homecoming King and Queen during the Homecoming football
game at Audrey J. Walton Stadium.
UCM students who participated in the annual Homecoming Day of Service, one of UCM’s
Homecoming traditions, provided more than 588 hours of community service for area
agencies. Donors provided 696 units of blood during the Homecoming blood drive, and
more than 4,700 canned food items were collected and donated to the Warrensburg Food
Center, Survival Adult Abuse Center and the UCM Campus Cupboard during the Donation
Creation competition.
UCM also announced the results of the Homecoming competitions. Taking first place
in the Pep Rally competition were Delta Chi/Sigma Sigma Sigma; second place, Alpha
Tau Omega/Alpha Gamma Delta; third place, Alpha Omicron Pi/Sigma Phi Epsilon; and
fourth place, Sigma Kappa/Sigma Pi.
Receiving first place in the campus floats category in the Homecoming parade was the
Gamma Phi Beta/Sigma Tau Gamma entry, with Sigma Kappa/Sigma Pi receiving second,
Sigma Phi Epsilon/Alpha Omicron Pi, third; and Delta Zeta/Phi Sigma Kappa, fourth.
In the community float category, Apple Bus took first place; Early Childhood Opportunity
Center claimed second place; and Center Stage Academy, third.
First place in the competitive spirit window competition went to Sigma Kappa/Sigma
Pi; second went to Sigma Phi Epsilon and Alpha Omicron Pi; third to Alpha Phi and
Lambda Chi Alpha; and fourth to Sigma Sigma Sigma and Delta Chi.
Delta Chi/Sigma Sigma Sigma claimed first placed in the Donation Creation competition.
Sigma Kappa/Sigma Pi received second; Delta Zeta/Phi Sigma Kappa, third; and Alpha
Sigma Alpha/Sigma Phi Epsilon, fourth.
Lambda Chi Alpha/Alpha Phi placed first in the competitive division of the bowling
tournament, with Phi Sigma Kappa/Delta Zeta receiving second; Alpha Omicron Pi/Sigma
Phi Epsilon, third, and Sigma Tau Gamma/Gamma Phi Beta, fourth.
Alpha Sigma Alpha/Alpha Kappa Lambda took first place in the Blood Drive competition,
with Alpha Omicron Pi/Sigma Phi Epsilon placing second; Sigma Kappa/Sigma Pi, third;
and Sigma Sigma Sigma/Delta Chi, fourth.
Overall campus competition homecoming winners were first place, Sigma Kappa/Sigma
Pi; second place, Alpha Omicron Pi/Sigma Phi Epsilon; third place, Delta Chi/Sigma
Sigma Sigma; and fourth place, Alpha Phi/Lambda Chi Alpha.
In the marching band competition, Warrensburg Middle School placed first in the Middle
School category.
In the 1A category, Leeton High School placed first; Princeton High School placed
second, and Orrick High School placed third.
In the 2A category, Crest Ridge High School placed first; Cole Camp High School, second;
and Windsor High School, third.
In the 3A category, Knob Noster High School placed first; Clinton High School, second;
and Holden R-3 High School, third.
In 4A competition, Warrensburg High School placed claimed first place.
