WARRENSBURG, MO – Helping to make higher education more affordable to students who
have financial need, the University of Central Missouri announces the UCM Housing
Grant Program. This new program is available to the first 200 students who submit
their residence hall agreements before May 1, 2019 to UCM and who meet eligibility
criteria.
The Housing Grant is for Pell-eligible students who are first-time freshmen or are
transfer students seeking their first undergraduate degree and are planning to attend
the university in fall 2019 or in spring 2020. Students who are selected will receive
$250 per semester toward their campus for a total of $500 during the academic year.
“One of the best ways for students to truly experience campus life is to reside on
campus,” said Karen Goos. interim vice provost for enrollment management. “We believe
the Housing Grant program will open more doors for students who are struggling financially
by reducing the cost of their on-campus housing. We’ve also learned that students
who live on campus tend to do better academically, so this grant could mean much more
than affordability to those who receive it.”
In order to quality, a student must submit a completed residence agreement by the
May 1 deadline along with their completed FAFSA. They also must demonstrate eligibility
for the Pell Grant. The UCM Housing Grant is a one-time, non-renewable financial award
that can be applied to either the fall 2019 or spring 2020 semester.
