WARRENSBURG, MO – More than 180 employers as well as representatives of graduate-professional
schools in many career fields are expected to attend the 2018 Fall Business, Industry,
Government (BIG) Career Expo at the University of Central Missouri. The event takes
place from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the Multipurpose Building arena, and is
hosted by UCM’s Career Services Center.
In addition to the Expo, an All-Day Resume Help program is planned for 9 a.m. to 4
p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, and BIG Interview Day 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, both in
Ward Edwards Building 1200.
The Career Expo is a great opportunity for students to meet professionals in their
particular field or major, ask questions, distribute resumes and explore many career
options. All students are encouraged to attend, regardless of class status. This event
also is beneficial to underclassmen as it provides an outlook on the job market. Junior,
seniors or any other students who are interested in pursuing employment (full-time
or internship) opportunities, should bring several copies of their resume. Graduate
and professional schools in attendance will answer questions about their programs
and application processes, and professional attire is encouraged.
About 40 employers are expected to participate in BIG Interview Day, Oct. 11, providing
an opportunity to interview students for possible employment. In order to participate,
students must meet with employers at the Expo, and be signed up to an interview schedule.
Students who want to find out which employers will be attending the Fall Career Expo,
where they are located in the Multipurpose Building, and majors they are recruiting,
are encouraged to download the Handshake app on IOS or access Handshake through MyCentral
on UCM’s website.
