WARRENSBURG, MO – University of Central Missouri students who are looking for jobs
have a great opportunity to network with potential employers during the annual Spring
Business, Industry, Government (B.I.G.) Career Expo 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13
in the Multipurpose Building arena. More than 160 employers representing a variety
of career fields as well as representatives of graduate/professional schools plan
to participate in the event hosted by UCM’s Career Services Center.
The B.I.G. Career Expo is part of a week that also includes Resume Help Day 9 a.m.
to 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11 and B.I.G. interview Day, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb.
14. Both of these events are open to all UCM students, regardless of class status,
and will take place in Ward Edwards Building, Room 1200.
The Career Expo is an ideal time for students to meet professionals in their field
or major, ask questions, distribute resumes and explore many career opportunities.
Underclassmen will benefit from the event as an outlook on the job market. Juniors
and seniors, or anyone interested in pursuing employment, either full-time or through
an internship, should bring several copies of their resume. Representatives of graduate
and professional schools will be there to answer questions about their programs and
application processes. Professional attire is encouraged.
B.I.G. Interview Day, the day following the Expo, will be attended by approximately
40 employers who will conduct on-campus interviews. To participate, students must
meet with employers at the Expo, and be on an interview schedule.
Students who want to know which employers will attend the Expo, where they are located,
and the majors they will recruit are encouraged to download the Handshake application
on IOS or Android platforms by using Google Play Store or by accessing the app directly
though MyCentral.
