Students from throughout the metropolitan area are invited to participate in upcoming camps and workshops through the University of Central Missouri Lee’s Summit. Both events are offered
at the Missouri Innovation Campus.
Stories for Justice Summer Writing Camp connects students’ passions, their experiences
and stories to issues of community importance. Students entering seventh through 12th
grades will tell their stories using digital storytelling, creative argument and social
justice writing in a supportive environment. The camp includes an open mic performance.
The camp is offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 15 through 19 at the Missouri Innovation
Campus. In addition, it will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 8 through 12
at St. Teresa’s Academy in Kansas City. Cost is $150.
The College Application Essay: Your Story, Our Help provides pro tips to help students
find the unique story that will open doors to their future. Designed for high-school
juniors, the workshop is offered from 9 a.m. to noon July 12 at the Missouri Innovation
Campus. Cost is $45.
