WARRENSBURG, MO – Women in Security – Kansas City recently honored a University of Central Missouri student, Veenapani Veena, from Computer Information Systems and Analytics, as one of the three recipients of a grant designed to inspire and support women
at all career levels in Informational Technology (IT).
Veena received a $2,500 financial award on the basis of several criteria that she
met by Women in Security – Kansas City. The grant was available to individuals who
are pursuing or intending to pursue a degree or certification with a Cybersecurity
or Information Security focus, and must be attending or planning to attend courses
on campus or online, either full-time or part-time.
The grants fall into three categories: undergraduate, graduate, training center/security
coursework/security certifications. The selection committee also considered recommendations
from instructors, biographical information, an interview process, and the applicant’s
response to a brief, topical essay.
Veena is a graduate student at UCM seeking a Master of Science in Computer Information
Systems and Information Technology degree. She received the financial award that is
applicable for the 2019-2020 academic year.
Women in Security – Kansas City is an organization promoting women in information
security. Its mission is to provide a focus for women in Information Security through
peer mentoring, workshops, and networking opportunities.
