WARRENSBURG, MO - Gail M. Staines, Ph.D., university librarian of the James C. Kirkpatrick Library at the University of Central Missouri, has had the third edition of “Social Sciences
Research: Research, Writing and Presentation Strategies for Students” published by
Scarecrow Press (2019). This is a complete revision of the second edition to reflect significant
changes in information seeking behavior using new technologies.
“This book is encouraging, clearly written, and easy to understand, especially when
addressing searching, ILL, outlines, ‘Filter Bubbles,’ and ‘Presenting Your Research.’
The third edition contains useful worksheets and examples throughout,” says Esther
Grassian, distinguished librarian, University of California, Los Angeles.
Staines earned her Ph.D. in higher education administration and Master of Library
Science both from the University at Buffalo in New York. Her areas of research include
information literacy, leadership, and library as place in academic environments. As
University Librarian, she oversees the James C. Kirkpatrick Library and the Center
for Teaching and Learning.
