Online courses provide busy adults with a flexible opportunity to launch a new career,
enhance existing skills or make a career change. The University of Central Missouri
offers a number of online courses in areas such as healthcare, information technology,
business, legal studies and advanced manufacturing.
Many online courses are self-paced with students able to enroll and begin the class
at any time while working at their own pace. Other online courses are scheduled during
a specific time frame in an instructor-led environment.
A popular example of an online, instructor-led course is our Paralegal Certificate
Program, beginning Oct. 21 and running through Feb. 28. The class is 14 weeks in duration
and is broken into two seven-week sessions. Through this intensive, nationally recognized
program, students are well prepared to enter this exciting field.
The Paralegal Certificate Program includes comprehensive training on interviewing
witnesses, investigating complex fact patterns, researching the law, preparing legal
documents, legal ethics and assisting in preparing cases for courtroom litigation.
The instruction is practice oriented and focuses on areas of law in which paralegals
are most in demand. This course is also approved through the Workforce Innovation
and Opportunity Act (WIOA) with scholarships available for individuals meeting eligibility
criteria.
