University of Central Missouri students, alumni and community members are invited
to a reception honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 22
at the Missouri Innovation Campus in Lee’s Summit.
The local event is part of a series of UCM activities celebrating the work and impact
of Dr. King during January. Theme for the UCM recognition is “From Dream to Reality:
the March Continues.” Activities being held at the Warrensburg campus include the
Freedom Scholarship Dinner, the Community Service Awards Luncheon, a Day of Service,
Community Praise and Worship Service, Volunteer Fair, a blood drive and displays of
student artwork. All events are open to the public, and with the exception of the
Scholarship Dinner and Community Service Awards Luncheon, all activities are free
of charge.
