WARRENSBURG, MO – Online U has ranked the University of Central Missouri’s online Master of Science in Physical Education fourth in the nation and first in the state for the highest return on investment
(ROI).
Online U has listed the 10-year ROI for the UCM online MS in Physical Education program
as $465,300, a figure that is $61,200 higher than the national average. Furthermore,
according to the report, the median annual starting salary for the program is as high
as $48,041.
To conduct the ranking, Online U followed a strict methodology for ranking universities around the nation. The 10-year ROI was calculated by taking
approximate salaries one year after graduation and multiplying the salary by 129.5%,
a percentage based on current research in salary growth. Student debt was also assumed
to be paid over a 10-year period with the current interest rate for federal loans,
4.53%.
Data for the ranking was sourced from College Scorecard, a website of university data
created and operated by the U.S. Department of Education. Tuition rates used to calculate
data were manually researched by Online U, ensuring that all data is accurate at the
time of publication. Data, including tuition rates, were collected from regionally
or nationally accredited universities and from data based on students who have received
financial aid through federal loan programs.
The online Master of Science in Physical Education is one of the fastest online programs
in terms of time toward completion. This flexible, at-your-own pace program can be
completed in one year with an additional summer semester. It is also a cutting-edge
academic experience for students who want to learn under the highest standards in
the field. Students in the program can expect to evolve skills in curriculum, physical
activity, promotion and other areas. The program is divided into two options; the
pedagogy option which focuses on teaching physical education and the coaching option
which focuses on guiding athletes to excel.
“It is quite an honor to be ranked so high. I believe it showcases the dedication
the faculty places on making the program one students will enjoy while also being
challenged to achieve and perform at a very high level. Far too long physical education
has been looked at as coaches and not really teachers,” said Kenneth Bias, professor
and coordinator of the physical education program. “The faculty here at UCM believe
the word ‘education’ in Physical Education is important and strives to make each student
in the program a ‘Quality Physical Educator’. Graduates go on to take leadership roles
not only in their school districts but in the state and national organizations as
well.”
