The University of Central Missouri and Lee’s Summit Velocity are hosting an Experience Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) Studio Open
House to showcase the university’s new Mixed Reality Studio, located at UCM’s Lee’s
Summit campus. The free event will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 17.
During the open house, attendees will tour UCM’s new Mixed Reality Studio/Gigabit Lab and have the opportunity to preview the facility’s high-tech equipment.
Augmented reality and virtual reality are critical in the creation of cutting-edge
web experiences. Thanks to the Mixed Reality Studio, it is possible to explore high-tech
production and storytelling techniques within immersive environments. Through access
to the studio’s leading-edge devices, innovators can create, develop and deploy both
augmented and virtual reality experiences.
The Mixed Reality Studio was launched by UCM in the fall of 2020, and is part of the
Gigabit Lab housed within the Missouri Innovation Campus. MoExcels, which was implemented
by the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development, provided
almost $675,000 toward the Information Technology Expansion Project that included
the Mixed Reality Studio and related UCM initiatives.
