Clint Steiner, an award-winning marketing executive at Garmin International and a
University of Central Missouri alumnus, visits his alma mater this week.
WARRENSBURG, MO – Students, faculty, staff, and the Warrensburg community are invited
to a presentation by University of Central Missouri alumnus Clint Steiner, senior
director of Sales and Marketing Automotive at Garmin International, from 11 a.m. to
noon Thursday, Sept. 8, in the Elliott Student Union Auditorium. His presentation
will highlight his professional experiences and marketing strategy at Garmin, a GPS
technology company for automotive, aviation, marine, outdoor, and sport activities.
The event is sponsored by UCM’s chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA)
and the Department of Marketing and Legal Studies.
Steiner joined Garmin International in 2001 as a product support specialist after
graduating from UCM. Since that time, he has served in multiple roles from product
training to regional sales management. In 2012, he was appointed Director of Sales
and Marketing for Garmin’s Automotive OEM segment, where he has led Garmin’s global
pursuit of infotainment solutions into multiple global automakers. In 2018, he was
promoted to Senior Director where he continues to lead the global sales and marketing
efforts for the segment.
Recently honored in his professional field, Steiner is the 2022 recipient of the AMA
Distinguished Marketing Executive Award. This recognition is for an executive who
has made outstanding contributions to the discipline of marketing, as well as to his
or her local community. Additionally, this individual's firm provides a key product
regionally, nationally, or internationally. The winner of this award therefore is
an individual who is, and is expected to be in the future, a special contributor to
the marketing discipline.
Anyone who has questions about this event is encouraged to contact Charles Schwepker,
Randall and Kelly Harbert Marketing Professor at UCM, at schwepker@ucmo.edu or Scott Smith, professor of marketing, at sdsmith@ucmo.edu.
About the American Marketing Association
The UCM Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) promotes marketing as
a field of study and as a profession to students at UCM. AMA focuses on the professional
growth of its members by providing them both academic and professional enhancement
opportunities. Among other things, this involves inviting business professionals
to speak at monthly meetings, as well as creating real-world marketing situations,
such as consulting for a local business or developing a product to sell to raise
funds, to provide hands-on experience for those who are interested in a career in
marketing.
