Procedure

The University of Central Missouri students may appeal residency determinations pursuant to the Department of Higher Education’s regulation, Determination of Student Residency 6 CSR 10-3.010.

I. Process

A. Undergraduate Applicants to University of Central Missouri

The UCM's Office of Admissions will be responsible for initial determination of undergraduate residency status upon application. "Petitions for Residency" will be distributed and processed by the Office of Admissions. Two levels of institutional review will be provided as directed by the Assistant Vice Provost for Admissions and Financial Aid. The second review will result in a final decision.

B. Current Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate students who believe they have established residency should file a "Petition for Residency" with the Office of Admissions. "Petitions for Residency" will be distributed and processed by the Office of Admissions. Two levels of institutional review will be provided as directed by the Assistant Vice Provost for Admissions and Financial Aid. The second review will result in a final decision

C. Graduate Applicants and Current Graduate Students

Graduate students should obtain residency application materials from the Graduate School and submit the completed application to the Graduate School. Current graduate students must submit a "Petition for Residency" to the Graduate School. Two levels of institutional review will be provided. The second review by the Graduate Council will result in a final decision.

D. Responsible Staff

Titles of staff that will provide institutional review will be identified in the UCM Undergraduate and/or Graduate Catalog(s).

II. Timelines

Applications must be received by the first day of the academic semester or summer semester. Successful applications for Missouri residency will become effective no earlier than the current semester.

Minor updates in 2024 to reflect appropriate staff title and update matrix.
