Students will enhance their leadership skills by doing service and it offers them a sense of accomplishment. Some students will become involved in volunteer services when they are searching for service projects to involve their student organization in the community. Volunteer Services also promotes a responsibility to "give back" to society and helps them achieve a lifetime commitment to service and helping others.

Commitment to Service Award
Students who complete and submit the appropriate number of service hours will qualify for UCM's Commitment to Service Award.
Students can submit hours for each service activity they complete while attending UCM. Submitted hours will be verified and a running total of a student's volunteer hours for each year will be kept while they attend UCM. Copies of a student's submitted hours and service activities are available upon request.
President’s Volunteer Service Award
The President’s Volunteer Service Award works with Certifying Organizations to recognize America’s most committed volunteers. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates the value of volunteer time to be $23.56 per hour, and through their service, Americans invest billions in their local communities—to say nothing of the immeasurable impact volunteers have on others and the character of their communities.
Check out our variety of ways that you can get involved by volunteering to help others.
One time each semester, Volunteer Services invites local not-for-profit agencies to campus. These agencies provide information for students to encourage their participation as volunteers. This fair provides an excellent opportunity for students to become involved in service projects in the local community. Students are able to give back to others and learn about our community at the same time.

During the year, Volunteer Services sponsors service days. These days bring volunteers together to serve and help others. Students may participate as a team or sign on as an individual. Projects are established throughout the community and include city street clean up and beautification, planting flower boxes, painting projects, senior citizen lawn care, and nursing center projects. This is a great way to give back to the community you live in.
Stop & Serve is a monthly opportunity for the UCM students to perform quick and simple tasks that will benefit the community or an agency in some way. Students will be able to give back by stopping by in between classes or on their lunch break!
This document provides volunteer service opportunities for the local, campus and surrounding areas. Feel free to contact them about how to get involved.
Donating blood means life to many people. Several times a year, the University of Central Missouri teams up with the Community Blood Center to host blood drives. All of the blood donated is used in local hospitals and benefits those in the area. Volunteers are always needed to donate.
