Students are strongly encouraged to have health insurance, either as a dependent on someone else's plan, or through the health insurance available to enrolled University of Central Missouri (UCM) students. It is very important that you have adequate health care insurance while you are in college. The University contracts with a student health insurance carrier to provide a low cost, high quality health insurance plan. For more information on the student health insurance plans please clink on the following links: International Student Health Insurance or Domestic Student Health Insurance
Like most health care providers, the UCM Health Center charges for office visits and other medical services we provide – laboratory work, procedures, and immunizations. We will gladly bill your health insurance company directly for most services. We are unable to bill to Medicare, Medicaid, Tri-Care Prime, and prescription insurance companies. If you are unsure if we are a covered provider under your specific insurance plan, please contact your insurance company to request a list of participating providers. Example: We are an accepted provider for most Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, but your specific plan may not list us as a covered provider.
Be sure to bring your insurance card with you to each appointment at the Health Center. A co-pay will be collected at the time of service, unless your insurance card specifies otherwise. Charges for co-pays or other ancillary services not covered by your insurance can be paid at the time of service either by cash, check, credit card, or applied to your student account. Any charges not covered by your insurance will be applied to your student account. For any questions please call 660-543-4770.
