What you will study
The University of Central Missouri’s Aviation minor program coursework will provide foundational knowledge about the history of aviation, as well as its
current challenges and opportunities for the future. You’ll also complete private
ground school training — the same training that pilots complete — at UCM’s Max B.
Swisher Skyhaven Airport, the only university-owned airport in Missouri. Three aviation-related
electives round out the undergraduate program. You can pursue a Private Pilot License
by completing flight training or choose from popular courses such as:

use of business aviation aircraft.
- Aviation Weather: Discover how to interpret aviation weather reports and forecasts and understand hazards
that may affect your operations.
- Private Pilot Certificate: Gain the ground school knowledge needed to prepare you to take the FAA examination
for the Private Pilot Certificate.

“I chose UCM because it is one of the few places in the Midwest area where I could
study aviation in a university setting. The size of campus is perfect for me — not
too large and not too small. I felt I could actually be someone, make an impact and
not be just a number.”
